Interviewing Itzel Palma

Interviewing Itzel Palma

Isaiah Spear, Journalist

I chose to interview Itzel Palma a senior here at Renton High School. Itzel Palma is one
of the most dedicated and hardworking people I know, even though she had many things going
on outside of school like work, grades, and other things she had to do, she participated in many
things, she was the football manager, she is ASB president, and she was on the cheerleading
team. Itzel did everything all in one year. She learned to balance her personal life with her school
life.
Itzel Palma has been in Renton High her whole 4 years, when being asked “ How has been in a
lot of other things besides being in classes impacted you in general? (ASB president, football
manager, etc).” – “ In general It boosted my communication skills and patience, but to be
honest, I wasn’t good at balancing it all out. I went from doing no clubs/sports the first three
years to doing it all my senior year, which probably wasn’t the best option said, Itzel Palma.
Adding on, since the pandemic was going on It has been really hard for most people.
When the Pandemic began, Palma was a sophomore and did not come back to school until a
year later. Itzel Palma was asked “did you enjoy being in Renton High the whole 4 years? If so
why?” Itzel Palma responded with “ yes and no.. yes because I got closer to the friends I was
distant with, and no because I wasn’t in the same school as my girl besties.”
Then, since the pandemic was so overwhelming for everyone, not everyone would be as
focused when having to be on zoom call and having to do everything online. Itzel Palma was
then asked, “ What do you wish you did differently in the 4 years you have been attending this
school?”. “ I wish I would have started sports my first year instead of my last, I also wish I

would have taken my grades more seriously from the start. “ says Itzel Palma.

Also, school can be a really good environment if you get along with your classmates and
teachers, you meet many new people, and make new friends. Since Itzel is involved in helping
the school, she gets along with many teachers and students. Itzel Palma was also then asked, “
Who was your favorite teacher and why?” Palma’s response was “ Mrs. Moore, I love her
because she makes me feel safe and I can always tell her anything”.
Lastly, sometimes people wish they could go back at least once and re-do some event or thing
that happened in their life and when being asked that question what would you redo? Palma
says “to be more confident in myself”.
Concluding personally I was not involved in many things while being in high school,
so listening to Itzel has shown me that you can do anything if you are really dedicated. She has
learned so many things not just physically like sports, but also mentally and she balanced out
her life and did so much at once.
