A massive earthquake hit Syria as well as other parts of Turkey on February 6, 2023 at 4:17am. As of right now, 41,000 people have died from this deadly earthquake and many more have been injured. Search and rescue teams are trying their best to help save everyone that may have been under the buildings and rubble, and it has been over a week yet rescue teams are still trying to find survivors even though it’s been 74 hours since the earthquake hit. Help from all over the country is on the way for Syria and Turkey, and in the meantime, the president of Syria met with UN Relief to

talk about their urgent need for aid and shelter. Later on, the U.S Air Force came to help both Turkey and Syria as well as the Red Cross.

This has been very devastating to watch and seeing the amount of people it has affected is heartbreaking. Turkey and Syria are struggling to deal with the aftermath of it all, but they’re doing their best to provide available homes, food, and psychological care to those affected by the disasters of the earthquake. Many people around the world are helping out by donating money, food, and supplies to help the victims of the earthquake. Another part of the aftermath is that many kids get separated from their families for a long time before reuniting with them, but sadly, a lot of kids have become orphaned. In recent updates, it’s been shared that 2 more earthquakes have hit south of Turkey. The first earthquake occurred on February 20 with a magnitude of 6.4, and the second earthquake happened on February 27 with a magnitude of 5.6. Along with this, more than 47,000 people have lost their lives. This has been such devastating news but we are hoping for better days to come for Syria and Turkey.
