On Thursday, March 15th, Renton High School hosted a game night for the PTA. This event was coordinated by leadership student, Anas Berrebie.
“I wasn’t too fond of it because because it wasn’t my first choice,” Anas recalls, “ but throughout the planning process, I started to get really excited for the game night.”
The night went very well; the turn out for this year’s game night was one of the highest for student participants.
“I wanted to help [our PTA] get a game night going; there aren’t many parents in the PTA so it was a nice opportunity to get the word out,” Anas explains.
Putting the game night together was a bit of a struggle for him at first.
“I had to make posters; I also had to talk to teachers, students, and the PTA. This wasn’t my event, I just helped with it,” Anas said.
The night had a nice atmosphere for students and their families to play ‘minute-to-win-it’ games, card games, and board games. The PTA had gift card prizes for the winners.
Daniel Caldeira, a student who attended the game night, reflected over his reasons for going.
“I went because I thought that it was going to be a fun and relaxing social experience outside of school,” said Caldeira.
Not only was the game night a recruitment for parents and the PTA, many teachers came out to support the game night. Parents got the chance to meet some of the amazing teachers at Renton High School.
Overall, this game night was a success, and, hopefully, it will become an annual tradition at RHS.
