Around the start of the school year, Gesa Credit Union partnered with Renton School District in a program where students can open a bank account with a school-branded debit card, which would have $100 deposited into it. Each time one of the cards is used, Gesa donates to the associated school. I met with Abigail Nakimuli, the high school branch manager/Gesa intern, this week for an update and not too much has changed. Gesa is planning an event for this spring, similar to the one at the start of the school year, though not all of the details are known at this time. Gesa is also offering scholarships to seniors opening bank accounts, but the scholarships are going away on February 29th, so get one soon!
