Gun violence is prevalent in the United States with 85.7% of homicides committed with a firearm, a very alarming statistic with guns being the leading cause of death among teens and children. In the U.S. there were more school shootings in 2022 than in any other year since the Columbine High School Massacre. Columbine was a school shooting and attempted bombing that happened on April 20, 1999, which left 21 wounded, and 12 students and a teacher dead. To prevent a tragedy like this from happening again there are many things that we can do, even with little political power.
We need to take immediate action to stop gun violence. This requires changing laws, providing mental health support, and educating people about the dangers of gun violence. By talking, researching, and addressing root causes, we can create a safer future where lives are protected.
Here are some ways to help:
Start a GoFundMe campaign to prevent school shootings which only takes a few minutes.
Sign a petition to expand background checks for gun purchases.
Advocate for gun prevention on social media.
It helps a lot when many people band together for a good cause, people’s voices are the strongest. Get active with your community to bring awareness and remember anything can make a difference.
