The tour of the UW campus started off with a visit to a classroom where we met the admissions counselor Mimi To. She gave a presentation on what courses they offer, tuition costs, and alternatives if you’re unable to pay, including how to apply for free lunches. After the meeting, we started walking around the campus, with our first stop being the main library. Our tour guide mentioned that it is a great place to study for finals and midterms.
Next, we walked to the Denny Hall, which was formally an administration office now housing anthropology, classic Germanics, and Near Eastern languages. Afterwards, we made it to the famous cherry blossom garden which is still very beautiful even in the winter.
Nearing the end of the tour, we walked to the Student Hub, a building full of many facilities. The first level has student stores and some offices, while the level under is the lunch area housing many different types of foods. From there, we went to a man-made pond that new freshmen used to jump into as tradition but stopped once the water turned green. One of the final stops was the Suzzallo Library, where we went to an area called a “quiet zone” full of students either studying or working. At the end, we went back into the Student Hub for lunch.
