Coco best movie of the year, but why? Well, this movie is centered around El Dia de Muertos (the Day of the Dead)—one of the biggest celebrations in Mexico. The holiday is to celebrate and honor the spirits of the dead. The Day of the Dead date changes throughout the years, and the sad part of it is, most of Mexico doesn’t celebrate the day the way it used to be celebrated. This movie is special because not only can people of Mexican culture relate to it in their hearts, but even if you do not celebrate this day, you’re going to connect with the story of family, love and support. The message of the movie is deeply rooted in the importance of family, support, and dreams.

This movie is a hot trend to end 2017 and begin 2018 because it identifies and celebrates race, culture and identity. Reminding viewers that having a family who loves you and cares about you is important, and so is culture! Your culture is YOU! So, don’t forget to honor it.
