“Congratulations to Lindbergh and Renton High School students in the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) clubs who recently qualified for state competition,” announced Renton School District. FCCLA students from Lindbergh and Renton High School successfully completed the FCCLA Regional Competition located at North Creek High School on January 25th, 2025. Students competed in various STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events, where students exposed their skills through individual, leadership, and career preparation projects. Examples of some STAR events include Career Investigation, Event Management, and Fashion Construction. Moreover, many other schools from different school districts also attended the FCCLA Regional Competition, which gave FCCLA students and advisors the opportunity to network with one another.

All schools that attended the FCCLA Regional Competition checked in into the commons of North Creek High School and were welcomed with bags filled with candy and fun items. Afterwards, all schools attended the opening ceremony, which was led by FCCLA Vice President of Community Service, Smriti Tiwari. Following Smriti’s welcoming speech, students participated in game activities while FCCLA advisors prepared to judge student projects. Eventually, students returned back into the commons to work on last minute preparations and practice their presentations. Each student had a different time slot for when their competition would occur depending on which STAR event they were competing in. They also competed in different rooms around the school.

In the closing ceremony, students played games again and had an amusing dance battle with all of the schools. Finally, a FCCLA staff member came in and expressed her appreciation to all FCCLA students and advisors and handed out final scores from the competition of all the students from each school. The ceremony ended with Smriti who celebrated advisors and students as they begin to move on from the FCCLA Regional Competition.

Next up for Renton FCCLA members is state competition! They will be going to Spokane on March 3 until March 7, 2025. Students are already working on improving their projects for this next competition. Good luck to all of the students who are competing in STAR events!
