I chose to interview Ms. Whiton because I know she’s new to our school and it would be great to introduce her to the students. This way, they know who she is and what she can do to support them.

Dean of Students at Renton High School.
- What is her job description?
On paper, she leads our attendance and disciplinary concerns. She also tries to make sure students feel safe physically and emotionally at our school.
- What is her favorite part of her job?
The students (100%). She believes the students here are the best she has worked with in her 30 years of working.
- What is the hardest part of her job?
Getting everything done.
Obligations to the staff and students, sometimes it’s hard to get everything done that needs to be done in a day.
- How does she get through the workday?
Being around students, with just a simple hello or fist bump can help her get through the day and generally makes her happy.
- Is there anything else she wanted to say for this interview?
She’s been working in education for 30 years. Out of all the places she’s worked, this is her favorite school and it’s her home. She loves seeing the growth of the students and she can’t wait to see the amazing things to come next at Renton High School. She states that she’s so proud every day and every day she finds another reason to be proud of Renton High School.

Ms. Whiton is a staff member who can help you with whatever you need & help keep you on track. She can also guide you when you need it the most. She is someone who you can trust, and she is very friendly. She prides herself in helping her students accomplish their goals and whatever they need to get done. She absolutely loves working with the students here at Renton High School and she loves seeing the students she meets show their growth in their academics and as students.
