As the title says, this Super Bowl was one that no one anticipated, since the genuine favorites during the AFC and NFC championships were the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Commanders. Instead, we got a repeat of the 2023 Super Bowl, which started this whole “Chiefs three peat dream” since the Chiefs did back-to-back Super Bowl wins by winning the 2023 and the 2024 Super Bowl by beating the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers.
In the first half of this game, it was completely dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles, with the Eagles leading the first quarter with a 7-0 lead the entire quarter. By the end of the second quarter, the Eagles put in two more touchdowns and a field goal, now ending with a 17-0 lead. The halftime show was performed by Kendrick Lamar and a special appearance by SZA. After the show, the Eagles continued their massive lead in the third quarter with another field goal and a touchdown, but then the Chiefs were able to get a single touchdown in at the end with a failed 2-point conversion.
At the start of the fourth quarter with the Eagles leading the Chiefs 34-6, the Eagles put in two field goals, and the Chiefs out of nowhere came in with two touchdowns back-to-back. Yet at that point, it was too late with the Eagles having a 40-22 lead. In the end, the Eagles won the Super Bowl and ruined the Kansas City Chiefs dream of the first ever Super Bowl three peat.
