You might have heard about plane crashes on the internet or on the news from different places all over the world. Well, here’s another one that has recently been reported. However, this crash is unique. All 80 passengers inside the plane survived with barely any injuries.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Sometime in the week of February 17th, 2025, a plane crash occurred in Toronto, Canada.
In an article from ABC News, it’s reported that, “Investigators are attempting to determine how all 76 passengers and four crew members aboard Delta Air Lines Flight 4819 survived after their plane crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport.” Also, ABC News says that even with the plane skidding down the runway and flipping over, the 80 passengers walked away with barely any injuries.
John Nance, an ABC News aviation analyst who watched the viral video of the crash that’s going around said that the angle of the landing might have been a cause for its crash. Passengers that were inside the plane said that they felt the heat that came from the fire outside as they skidded down the runway.
ABC News informs us, “The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is beginning to uncover clues about the cause of the crash, though the investigation will likely take months to complete.” Safety is a big priority when it comes to any type of transportation, but when it comes to planes it’s critical. The CNN Travel article states, “ The series of close calls at US airports in early 2023 prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to create an independent safety review team.”
The data for U.S plane crashes in 2025 in The Guardian article tells us that 2025 has had fewer plane crashes in numbers lower than the years before. January and February were around 20 per month, and they also informed us that “Donald Trump seized on the Washington crash as an opportunity to criticize diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs. He claimed a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commitment to hiring people with disabilities was ‘one reason why our country WAS going to hell’.”
