We had a great time at the National High School Journalism Convention on April 24th & 25th, 2025 (thank you CTE ♥️)! We attended many courses including a broadcast and video workshop, a community journalism seminar, a cohesive culture for journalism staff success class, and a using generative AI in multimedia seminar, just to name a few. We networked with other student journalists & advisers from throughout our nation and we were inspired by their achievements as well as affirmed with our own. We are excited to implement what we learned and continue our networking as we progress as a journalism staff.
If you are looking for an elective class, please consider taking journalism. Journalism students are responsible for writing, editing, designing and laying out our school news site, The Renton Hawk Eye, which reflects the life and times of our Renton High School community. You will learn the laws and ethics of journalism as well as how to write news stories and conduct interviews. High school journalism reflects the real experiences of professional journalists and comes with the same responsibilities to be fair, accurate, unbiased, and ethical. There are many different journalism staff positions like writers, editors, photographers, publishers, advertisers, etc. We’d love for you to join us!
We also meet as a club every 2nd & 4th Friday of each month (and sometimes in between as needed) in Mrs. Richards’s room #349. We work on our student news site, go on field trips, and help our community through various service opportunities. Hope to see you there!
