Numerous Tesla dealerships and vehicles are being vandalized across the U.S. and internationally during recent months. In Colorado, a woman was charged in connection with attacks on Tesla dealerships, including the words “Nazi cars” spray-painted on Tesla’s buildings. Federal agents in South Carolina arrested a man who had set fire to Tesla charging stations near Charleston. Furthermore, an Oregon man faces charges after allegedly throwing several Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership in Salem and then returning another day to shoot out the windows.
In Tigard, a suburb of Portland, more than a dozen bullets were fired at a Tesla showroom, damaging vehicles and windows, which marks the second time in a week that the dealership was targeted. Four Cybertrucks were set on fire in a Tesla parking lot in Seattle, Washington. Later, witnesses reported that a man poured gasoline on an unoccupied Tesla Model S and started a fire on a Seattle street. On March 18th, at least five Teslas were damaged in Las Vegas after an individual set many cars on fire. They fired gunshots in a “targeted attack” on one of Tesla’s facilities, where the suspect also painted the word “RESIST” on the storefront’s windows. During the same time frame, two Tesla Cybertrucks caught fire at a Kansas City dealership in an incident that police suspect may be arson, according to the Kansas City Star news.
In London, as a form of protest against Elon Musk, organizers said in a statement that they are “throwing hundreds of thousands of people out of work.” After that, many more Teslas were continued to be vandalized around the globe. In response, several Tesla owners have put “I bought this before Elon went insane” stickers on their Tesla vehicles.
By the beginning of May 2025, 46% of Tesla owners have reported that their car has been vandalized, and a third of Tesla owners are considering getting rid of their Tesla vehicles within the next year.
While some incidents may be isolated, there’s an obvious trend of Tesla protests against Elon Musk’s political presence and agenda.
