Mr. Booker, the advisor of the Manufacturing Club, shared what the club is all about. In their meetings, they work on a variety of projects, including building structures, recently a staircase for an elderly couple, and creating 3D printed items. They also learn basic skills like framing and construction, which are important for future careers in manufacturing and aerospace. The manufacturing club has participated in an event where they built a theater set for the school’s drama production (IKEA theater) and where they also taught elementary school kids about aerospace concepts, like helicopter aerodynamics. Mr. Booker mentioned that one of the club’s goals is to help students work on projects that spark their interest in careers. They aim to attract more students who are considering skilled trades, such as building airplanes or houses. Right now, they are working on several projects, including a new phone charger model for classrooms and a special gift for graduating football players. Last year, they completed 44 projects, and they’re on track to do around 40+ this year.
The Manufacturing Club is a great place for anyone interested in technology and manufacturing. Members develop teamwork and leadership skills while collaborating with hands-on projects. If you’re curious about building things and want to learn more about the manufacturing field, the Manufacturing Club is a welcoming space to get involved! “If you can imagine it, you can build it” ~ Minecraft.
