The city of Renton is making some changes to the environment from now on! The critical areas ordinance of local development, or in other words a cleanup team, have adopted and enforced protected sensitive areas. This protects the people of Renton from harm, abuse, neglect and/or enabling them to live and work free from danger.
The Renton associate planner, Mariah Kerrihard, who maintained the state’s Growth Management Act has stated, “it protects environmentally sensitive areas, which for us includes wetlands, streams, flood hazard zones, wellhead protection areas, geologically hazardous areas and fish and wildlife habitat conservation areas.”
Renton principal planner Paul Hintz has spoken out, “a landslide can take out a roadway or even worse, people’s lives and property.” Hintz said, “it is important that we make sure we are protecting people as much as we can by adopting these regulations.”
