Hot Cakes on Capitol Hill is a cozy spot in Seattle that smells amazing the second you walk in. The place feels warm and inviting, with a casual setup that makes it great for hanging out with friends or enjoying a treat after dinner. I tried a mix of both savory and sweet foods, and most of them were really good. I started with the grilled cheese with tomato sauce, which hit the spot. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft inside, and the cheese was perfectly melted. The tomato sauce on the side added a nice tangy flavor that made it taste even better. It reminded me of a grown-up version of the classic lunch I used to love as a kid. Then I had the mac and cheese, which was creamy, cheesy, and super comforting. The top had a light baked crust, which added a little crunch. It was filling and rich, but not too heavy. This is definitely something I’d order again on a cold day.
For dessert, I got the s’mores cookie, and it was easily the best part of the meal. It had gooey chocolate, soft marshmallow, and a chewy cookie base that all melted together perfectly. It was sweet, messy, and totally worth it. The only downside was how busy it got. The line was long, and seating was a bit crowded. However, the staff was friendly, and the food came out pretty fast.
Overall, Hot Cakes on Capitol Hill is a fun, cozy place with great comfort food and amazing desserts. I’d rate it a 4 out of 5 and would definitely come back for that s’mores cookie at the very least.
