Every year Renton High School picks twelve outstanding seniors.

These seniors showed pride, tradition, and excellence.  These students were chosen, not only because they were successful in the classroom, but also because of their character.

“Students were selected based on leadership, curicular involvement, citizenship and community service,” according to Renton School District.

Renton High athletic director, Ms. Konkol, explained how they pick these twelve outstanding seniors.

“First, we have all the teachers from each department pick seniors that they think should be chosen. After we gather all the names, we sit down at a board meeting with other teachers and supervisors to see who is the most involved with things around the school,” explained Konkol.

She also stated that GPA plays a factor, but it is not the most important one when it comes to selecting people who showcase Renton´s motto of pride, tradition, and excellence.

Each year, the faculty gets the list narrowed down to roughly twenty students. From there, they have to select the 12 most outstanding students.

According to Konkol, “it was very close deciding the twelve seniors.”

Dean of Students, Mr.Powell, then brings the twelve students down to the office and tells them that they are nominated as the outstanding seniors. These students then write about another outstanding senior and give them recognition.

Renton School District is very pleased to give recognition to these outstanding seniors that are able to represent Renton High School in a positive way.
