Local farmers markets

Summer is coming up and that means farmers markets are opening.

All over Renton, Seattle, and Burien, the markets are becoming a place to get fresh produce and develop connections to their communities.

A very popular farmers market is the one in Renton at the Piazza on Tuesdays from 3-7 pm. It has many different stands, booths, produce, and flower bouquets for people to buy. It opens in June and goes through September. On opening day, the Hazen High School band will be performing from 5:30-6:30pm for a special treat. From then on, each week they offer some sort of entertainment and the list of performers can be found on the website.

Another farmers market that is equally as fun is the market in Columbia City. It is about fifteen minutes north of Renton and opened in May, so people can go every Wednesday 3-7 pm. For those who have not been to Columbia City, it is a must see! It is full of cute local shops, bakeries, clothing shops, restaurants, toy stores, and ice cream shops such as Molly Moons and Full Tilt. Their farmers market exhibits an array of food including fresh popsicles, apple cider, handmade caramel, mini pies, Indian cuisine, Greek food,  and of course fresh produce, jam, flowers and all the other regular farmers market goods. The Columbia City market is located on Edmunds street near the park behind the library. More details can be found on their website
