Renton High School fundraiser

Erick Rodea, Staff Writer

Relay For Life is a charity that actively funds the fight against cancer.

This year at Renton High, we participated in a coin drive to help raise awareness and money for people under the care of the American Cancer Association.

It all started with one student being diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer. RHS saw this as a large opportunity to raise money for people who really need support and the research for a cure.

The Relay For Life is named after their main fundraiser, the large marathon they put on annually. This brings people from all walks of life together working towards a common goal and purpose.

We interviewed someone from Renton High School who knows just about everything about this foundation, Ms. Hespelt. She says if there is anyone who wishes to help out with this foundation to get in touch with her and you can become part of the staff.

Update message from Ms. Hespelt:

We finally finished counting all of the pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters everyone brought in for our Relay for Life Coins for a Cure fundraiser! We met our goal of $500 this year! Way to go!

Our winners this year are O’roarty, Michaels, and Neu, along with my class (they really, really, wanted ice cream).
