Renton School District and trimesters

And here are the reasons why

This 2018-19 school year, Renton School District changed from the past semester system to the trimester system.

The trimester system allows students who are behind in credits to graduate on time. It also produces a schedule that provides the ability to meet the needs of each student.

In addition to helping with credits, the trimester system will be changed the way classes work on a daily basis. The trimester system has 5 classes in a day rather than 6 classes; each class runs for 70 minutes. This will encourage the high school students to meet the needs of their credits to graduate on time.

The newly adapted trimester system is not the only platform to help students graduate on time; RHS also offers Homework Help Center for students to work on classwork outside of class time.

All RSD high schools will support the needs of their students to graduate high school. For changing from the semester system to trimesters, each student should have the chance to earn their credits on time. The requirements for students to earn their credits on a trimester system is they need to have fewer elective opportunities, also the students should have the opportunity to develop a more personalized pathway that meets their needs for the future. Also, the students will be able to meet the increased graduation requirements.
