Korean boy group sets 3rd record this month
October 22, 2018
In the last month, Korean boy band “BTS” has set three incredible records.
For some background knowledge, the group is made up of seven members between the ages of 21 and 25. They are under the agency BigHit Entertainment, and the group officially debuted in 2013. Their success went from moderate to worldwide in the span of five years, and their music is now becoming a staple in so many American lives.
The most recent record they set was being the youngest and first idol group to receive Korea’s Order of Culture Merit award.
The Order of Culture Merit is divided into 5 parts and is given to people who, according to the Statute of The Republic of Korea, “[have] rendered outstanding meritorious services in the fields of culture and art in the interest of promoting the national culture and national development.”
Another very important “first” thing they did recently was speaking at the United Nations (UN) meeting in New York. They were the first K-pop group to speak at the UN meeting. The leader of the group, Rm, spoke about their Unicef Love Yourself campaign. The campaign has, as of June 2018, has raised over 1 million dollars.
The last exceptional record they have set is being the first K-pop group to sell out a stadium in America. The group not only sold out the stadium, they also sold it out in minutes. Becoming one of a small group of artists who have been able to sell out a stadium within a day.
These records have been set only within the last thirty days. These superstars have set so many records recently and they are sure to set many more. The men of BTS are destined for more success and so many people are looking forward to it.
