Girls’ gymnastics: RHS versus Lindbergh

Ruby Weller, Staff Writer

On Wednesday, January 9th, the girls’ gymnastics team got onto a school bus and took a trip down to Lindbergh Senior High School to compete against their gymnastics team and take the win.

Girls competed in events like floor, vault, beam and bars, with Renton taking first in almost every event.

The meet started at 7 pm and ended around 9 pm. The total scores by the finish were: Renton’s 111 points to Lindbergh’s 97 points.

This meet featured many amazing floor performances, including one athlete who choreographed her routine to the Pink Panther theme song. It was memorable!!

Renton has some of the strongest beam and floor routines in the league, and it shows. The scores range from 3.7 to 6.0 points on floor and 3.8 to 6.3 points on beam! The scoring for those two events gets a little complicated, but those are pretty good scores.

With 4 all-arounds (competing in every event) competing the all-around top 5 featured at least 3 or 4 of them, Diana Caoagdan took first place in vault with a 7.0 score.

Overall, this meet was a pretty good one. RHS students can come see the gymnastics team at their next meet on Tuesday, January 29th at Evergreen High School, competing against Tyee and Evergreen.
