The Renton Multicultural Festival is a free celebration that lasts two days and was made to celebrate the diverse community at Renton High. It was launched in 2016 and continues to thrive current-day. This years upcoming festival will take place on Friday, September 13, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Carco Theater, and the next day on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Renton Pavilion Event Center & Pizza Park.

The festival features a wide variety of singers and dancers and also includes a brief summary of some history surrounding the cultures being displayed as well as the significance of what was performed. Booths are also included in the festival and provide valuable information.

The Puget Sound Chapter of the Public Relations Society of American awarded the City of Renton with a Certificate of Excellence for successful development and promotion of Renton’s Multicultural Festival for the third year in a row.

In a recent article in the Renton Reporter, Mayor Denis Law shared his gratitude.

“It’s an honor to be recognized. My thanks go to the members of the Mayor’s Inclusion Task for their work in developing an idea into our current festival and to the community for making it one of our most popular and anticipated city events. I also want to recognize our exceptionally creative and talented communications team for continuously raising the bar to serve our community,” noted Law

The goal of the festival is to unite the community and provide understanding and education for those who are interested in learning more about other cultures, or maybe even one’s own. Participation is encouraged for performers and attendants.

If you are interested in joining the Multicultural Festival this year or any oncoming years, more information about signing up can be found at https://www.rentonwa.gov/cms/one.aspx?pageId=9619576.
