Swish! Pelicans Defeat The Warriors 108-100
December 7, 2019
Sunday, November 17th, 2019 the Golden State Warriors played the New Orleans Pelicans. The Warriors have been having a rough season because many of the players have obtained injuries. The Warriors have defended the title of Western Conference Champions for the past three years but, because of the injuries, their record is 2-12. The Warriors were in desperation with many of the players out on injury so their coach, Steve Kerr, placed Draymond Green as the point guard. Green has a three-time All-Star and five-time All-Defensive. Although he is a 6’7” power forward, he is also confident in being a ball-handler and playmaker. Eric Paschall helped remove some pressure but doing a lot of outside shooting and driving into the lane. Even with the help from Paschall, the Pelicans swarmed Green as the new point guard. Green struggled with making his shots and had as many turnovers as assists. The Pelicans also had a fair amount of players on the bench due to injury. The Pelicans just seemed to have better luck with Zion Williamson and Anthony Davis working towards this past win. The Pelicans Have gotten into their rhythm these past few games. The returning team members were not going to let Golden State through them off. JJ Redick led the team in the first three quarters then Jrue Holiday took their three-point lead to double digits in the fourth quarter. The Pelicans still have a long way to go in order to live up to expectations and to be able to compete in this year’s playoff, but the leaders are making sure the team is ready when Zion Williamson returns from injury.
