Winter Activities And Events To Do In Seattle

Are you bored at home, looking for something to do? In this article, I’m going to tell you about the many activities and events you can do to make your winter more fun.

WildLanterns Park Zoo

This is a picture of one of the lantern designs.

The WildLanterns Park Zoo is located in Seattle, WA. During this time, you can go to the Tianyu Cultural Performances. The Tianyu Cultural Performances are a bunch of live, traditional Chinese artistic performances, and over the past 12 years, Tianyu Arts & Culture has been partnering up with many botanical gardens, zoos, and natural science institutions to create innovative lanterns and festivals that have attracted millions of visitors. Their lantern designs consist of birds, land mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish in their natural habitats, as well as endangered and extinct wildlife.

The Summit at Snoqualmie

This is a picture of the summit where you can see all the activities and areas they provide.

The Summit At Snoqualmie is a winter resort located 45 minutes east of Seattle on Snoqualmie pass. There are many fun activities you can do at the summit, such as snow tubing, nordic skiing, and snowshoeing. If you want to actually take lessons on snowboarding or skiing, the summit also provides private lessons, 13+ beginner group lessons, kids club lessons, and more. The summit consists of 4 different mountain areas: Alpental, Summit West, Summit Central, and Summitt east.

Alpental is the steepest and deepest one of all of the areas. Its deep-rooted history and legendary terrain makes this mountain a bucket list item for skiers and riders.

Summit West is where all the lessons on how to snowboard and ski take place. Summit West is the only place in the Pacific northwest where you can catch first tracks midweek after work or school.

Summit Central has a wide variety of lifts, terrain, and lesson products. Central also accommodates families and has a variety of foods you can choose from to keep you fueled for the day, too.

Last but not least, Summit East is where all the snow tubing, nordic skiing, and snowshoeing happens with a variety of alpine terrain and a one-stop-shop for all your alpine, snowshoe, and nordic needs as well.

Bellevue Botanic Garden

This picture shows two kids enjoying the flower-shaped lights the botanical garden has to offer.

The Bellevue Botanical Garden provides similar attractions to the lights at the Wildlanterns Zoo, but instead of shaping lights into animals, the staff at the garden create displays in the form of different flowers and plants in a place known as the Garden of Lights. Beauty isn’t the only thing the gardens have to offer though; each display is labeled with the represented plants for further engagement and learning experiences as well. After looking at all the amazing lights they have displayed, you can purchase some flower-shaped lights as souvenirs to bring home with you, too.
