Solar Eclipse 2024

In this article we’ll explore the amazing solar eclipse from what causes it to why it’s so cool!

What is a solar eclipse? A solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth.  There are four types of solar eclipses.  Sometimes the Moon only blocks part of the Sun’s lights which is called a partial solar eclipse.  An annual solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, but doesn’t completely cover the Sun’s disk.  A hybrid solar eclipse is when an eclipse shifts between annual and total on some places on Earth. People will see an eclipse and others will see a total eclipse.  A total solar eclipse is when the Moon totally blocks the Sun for a few minutes making everything dark. Now you may think why is the solar eclipse that happened on April 8th so special? That’s because it was the longest total eclipse in over a decade, leaving those who ran to see it in awe.

As we looked forward to the solar eclipse of 2024, it was important to remember to protect our eyes. Watching the Sun directly could seriously hurt our eyes. It’s like staring at a really bright lightbulb, which is not a good idea! So wear those special eclipse glasses. They will keep your eyes safe while you enjoy the awesome show in the sky.
