Miles Morales: What More is There to Expect?

Picture from IMDb

Ever heard of Spider-Man, or been a fan of superheroes? Many fans have been following the updates of the Miles Morales animated Spider-Man franchise. In this article, you will learn all the information that has been given about the next upcoming movie of the series, Spider man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, as well as the past movies and why you might want to consider waiting for the next and final movie.

As this series is a trilogy, this next movie will be the conclusion to the animated story about the boy named Miles Morales. There is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and hopefully soon, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

When can fans expect the threequel to be released?

Originally, this movie was supposed to be released sometime in March this year, March 29th of 2024. Due to the actors’ strike, the movie has been delayed indefinitely. Workers at Sony are saying that the movie will be released “when it is ready.” The next Spider-Verse movie could be  released sometime in late 2024 or even in 2025.

What is this strike that’s delayed the release for so long? The labor disputes in Hollywood throughout 2023 lasted from May 2nd to November 9th, according to the Los Angeles Times.  The disputes were due to the artists’ lack of rights, specifically intellectual property, artistic integrity, and lack of pay from streaming services. There was also an argument about the introduction of artificial intelligence and synthetic media coming into the industry and possibly taking the places of real people.

Never watched any of the movies from this franchise?

Based on reviews, many people would recommend this series with genuine admiration. The first two movies of this trilogy are Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Both movies have been rated PG. Into the Spider-Verse is an hour and fifty seven minutes long, while Across the Spider-Verse is slightly longer, being two hours and twenty minutes long. On Rotten Tomatoes, the first movie, Into The Spider-Verse, has an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars; 94% of the people rating over a 3.5 star review.

Top critic Ben Sachs says the movie “actually captures the sensation of getting absorbed in a comic  book.” While another critic has more praise for this movie saying, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse is immediately immersive, a colorful and adventurous cinematic experience that invites viewers along for the ride.”

Across the Spider-Verse, the second movie, has similar responses with a 4.7 out of 5 star average rating on Rotten Tomatoes, again with 94% of people rating 3.5 stars or higher. In a short yet simple response to the movie, top critic Matthew Lickona on Rotten Tomatoes says the movie, “tempts you to think Spider-Man was always meant to be animated.”

Waiting for Miles Morales

The reviews make fans more anticipated to see the upcoming movie, to finally see the closure to this story after the first movie was released back in 2018. Fans are patiently waiting to see what updates they get, since as of now there is still no further information about when the movie will be released in theaters for fans and interested viewers.

Due to the long wait, many people are frustrated at the situation, and are waiting impatiently for the movie. This article brings light to the reason why the movie was delayed and can keep fans hopeful for the next and final movie.

Anyone interested in superheroes, comic books, or animated series should stay on their toes and keep an eye out for the long awaited threequel.  In the meantime, fans can re-watch the first 2 movies, and maybe even introduce someone new to the series as well.
