Renton High School’s 2026 production, The Addams Family, features a spooky and catchy musical featuring one of the most iconic families in pop culture. The show lasted six days (April 23 – May 2, 2026) with tickets costing $10 a person. The student performers spent about 5 weeks rehearsing, and the show was absolutely amazing!
Ms. Khelghatian and her Drama Club put together such a spectacular performance from costumes down to the props, with the cast and crew coming together to make sure the production was perfect. With music created by our orchestra (led by Mr. Bores) along with Mr. Lim, who assisted in vocal directing, the musical was filled with great tunes that had the audience humming the songs long after the show. All of the sets seen in the musical were 100% designed and built by Mr. Booker’s Industrial Technology students, which helped the musical come to life. This collaboration created one of the best RHS performances yet!
The story stars the Addams family, who have to accept that their eldest, Wednesday, is growing up. Things quickly go wrong as Gomez is forced to keep a secret from Mortica, something they never do to each other. The secret was that Wednesday is getting married to Lucas Beineke. After a disastrous dinner with the Beinekes, both families are torn apart. Eventually, Mortica and Gomez amend their relationship, Alice and Mal fall in love again, and Wednesday apologizes to her mother. The show ends with a beautiful song with a surprise of Lurch singing along.

The story line:

Wednesday told Gomez (her father) that she is getting married to a guy from Ohio named Lucas Beineke. Gomez was shocked and wanted to tell Morticia, his lovely wife, about this important news. Yet Wednesday stopped him because if Morticia knew about this, she would not accept this marriage. So, Wednesday made Gomez promise her that he will not tell the news to Morticia that she is getting married.

Gomez promised not to tell, but after Wednesday left the room, Gomez was panicking because there are two things that he doesn’t want to do: Lie to Morticia and betray Wednesday’s trust. He is trapped! What should he do? Should he lie to Morticia and keep the promise with Wednesday, or tell Morticia about the news and betray Wednesday’s trust? Gomez decided to keep the promise with Wednesday and waited for the perfect timing to tell Morticia.

Wednesday was torturing her brother Pugsley because he was joking about her hanging out with this new guy, Lucas, who appears in her life. This creates a distance between Wednesday and Pugsley because Wednesday is in love with Lucas and spending more time with him. Pugsley feels like he is slowly losing his sister to this Lucas guy from Ohio because Pugsley and Wednesday were close because they used to spend a lot of time together playing, but now Lucas has appeared in her life, she doesn’t really hang out with Pugsley anymore, which made Pugsley sad.

The Beinekes are going to the Addams place for dinner, and they are trying to find where the Addams live. Mal Beineke, father of Lucas Beineke, was unsure if this was a good idea and told his son, Lucas, that they should go back to the hotel and have a talk about this because he is hanging out with a girl who carries a bow and arrow everywhere and who lives in a forest! Yet Lucas said no, and Alice, his mother, also said to Mal that Lucas is his only son, so he needs to listen to him. After the talk, the Beineke’s continue to walk into the forest to find where the Addams live.

Finally after finding where the Addams live, the Beinekes finally were at the Addams place. The zombie butler, Lurch, answered the door and welcomed the Beinekes inside. The Beinekes tried to talk to Lurch, but no luck. Then Mal started having a weird feeling because the Addams has a zombie for a butler! Earlier that day, att the airport when they landed, some random guy asked for Mal’s telephone number, which is also weird.
After a while Gomez came out and welcomed them, then Morticia came out after putting her apple pie on the window to cool. When Wednesday came out wearing a bright yellow dress, Morticia was shocked and pulled Wednesday aside and asked her, “what are you wearing?” because that color is not the color that the Addams usually wear.
Now the parents are going to talk and Gomez says, “After the talk, we will have dinner,” but got cut off by Morticia saying, “After dinner the game.”

Pugsley saw Wednesday and Lucas were hanging out and having fun. Pugsley feels a little bit sad because Wednesday doesn’t play with him anymore. Then grandma came with her cart full of magical potions and things, and she has a talk with Pugsley about Wednesday because she can see that Pugsley was sad because Wednesday isn’t hanging out with him anymore. She told Pugsley to accept Wednesday’s choices because she is his sister. Then something caught Pugsley’s eyes, a small bottle called “Acrimonium,” a potion that can make someone who drinks to cause them to reveal their true self.
So, Pugsley secretly takes it when grandma wasn’t looking, so he can have Wednesday drink it, and she will hopefully start to hate Lucas and play with Pugsley again.

The Addams and the Beinekes just had dinner, but now is time for the game Full Disclosure, a game that you have to drink from the sacred chalice and confess your darkest, deepest secrets. Morticia really wanted to know what Gomez has been hiding from her because he is acting unusual. Gomez took a drink from the sacred chalice and told a story, but he didn’t reveal the full truth. Then, Uncle Fester took a drink from the chalice and confessed that he is in love with the MOON! After Fester takes a drink from the chalice, next is grandma’s turn and she says that she had a talk with Pugsley about Wednesday.
After a while, Pugsley took the chalice secretly and mixed the Acrimonium with the drink, but he didn’t know that Wednesday would not be able to drink it because Lucas gave the chalice to his mother, Alice who was coughing. When Alice drinks it, she begins to be her true self and reveals the hardship she has with Mal and the family; how Mal has changed after they got married. She was frustrated, and not afraid to show her true self!
Everything was a mess, the Beinekes were about to leave and go back to Ohio. Suddenly Wednesday couldn’t hold back anymore and told everyone that she and Lucas are getting married. Everyone looked shocked, and Morticia felt betrayed because Gomez had kept this secret and never told her.
Fortunately, there was a big storm coming, created by the Addams Ancestors, so the Beinekes had to stay for the night.

Morticia was so disappointed in Gomez for hiding and lying to her… so she just kicked Gomez out of the house temporarily because she was frustrated and needed to be alone. She also feels like she can’t live under the same roof with the man that lies to her. So, Morticia decided to leave and never come back! Gomez you better do something

With the chaos going on another hand Fester is confessing his feelings to the Moon.

After the dinner mess, Wednesday and Lucas had a talk and Lucas was unsure whether getting married is a good idea anymore because their families don’t really like each other. Wednesday was upset because they had planned this and now suddenly Lucas decided to quit! Wednesday packed her things and decided to leave home. Gomez was sitting on a bench outside because he just got kicked out of the house by Morticia and he was upset with Wednesday for keeping it secret, but when Wednesday told him about Lucas quitting and doesn’t want to get married anymore, Gomez feels different. Then Wednesday and Gomez sit on the bench and talk about their problems.
Lucas came back, and he told Wednesday he can’t live without her. At first, Wednesday didn’t believe him because he was scared earlier and now, he is not, so it doesn’t make any sense! Therefore, Wednesday wanted to test him by putting an apple on his head, so she can shoot it with her bow and arrow. Before she could, Lucas stopped her. Did he want to quit? ABSOLUTELY NOT! He decided to take off his tie and cover Wednesday’s vision to prove to her how crazy he is for her and he really meant it.
She said, “But what if I miss?” Lucas replied, “Then you’ll be the last thing I’ll ever see,” which will make Wednesday fall in love again! Thank goodness Wednesday didn’t miss him, and they both fell in love again because he proved to her how much he trusted her with his life.

Seeing Lucas and Wednesday making up and being happy together, made Mal realize how much he had changed and treated Alice differently now. He really wants his Alice back, so he asks Fester for help. Fester told him, “Just remember how you felt the first time you saw her.” Mal then went to Alice and told her how he is really sorry for his changes and that he really wants to get the old Mal back. Alice was really happy to see her old Mal is back, and they fell in love again.

Well now everyone is happy, Wednesday and Lucas, Alice and Mal. Yet there is one more couple that needed to make up…Morticia and Gomez. After Gomez makes a phone call to Paris to arrange a surprise trip for Morticia, by taking her to a “terrible” hotel in Paris. This is an attempt to save his marriage from falling apart. Suddenly, Fester came rushing in and told Gomez that Morticia is leaving. Gomez was panicking now, “Is this the moment where I turn a little grey. Is this the moment where my marriage vows decay. Is this the moment where Morticia runs away NO! Not today, not today, not TODAY!”
Gomez runs to find Morticia, and he saw her having her things next to her, which made him feel like he needed to make his last attempt to save this marriage because Morticia is about to leave and might never come back! Gomez decided to make a bet with Morticia that she had lied before in the past, and if he’s right, then Morticia has to dance with him.
He reminds Morticia that she had lied by hiding from her mother that she was getting married to him. Morticia replied that her mother was “condescending, judgmental and withholding, and loved nothing more than stirring up trouble.” Suddenly, Morticia realized that she had turned into her mother. Gomez has shown that Wednesday is like Morticia back then when she wanted to marry Gomez, but she was scared to tell her mother.
Now as promised, Morticia gave a dance with Gomez, which fixed their marriage, and Morticia has fully forgiven Gomez for lying to her.

The Addams and the Beinekes have made up with the person they’re in love with, but there is someone who needed to confess what they did to cause all of this chaos earlier, Pugsley. Grandma figured out who took her Acrimonium potion and that was Pugsley. In the end everything has turned out great, Alice and Mal have fallen in love again, Morticia has fully forgiven Gomez, and Wednesday and Lucas have fixed things all thanks to Pugsley who has put Acrimonium in the chalice in the first place.
After all of that Wednesday wasn’t mad at Pugsley and told him that he is the best brother ever and she will never forget him! Pugsley was happy now knowing this.

Wednesday has asked for her mother to give them their blessing and now she is getting married to the person she is in love with! Everyone is happy and Fester is flying to the moon to be with his love, Grandma is still grandma enjoying her time, Pugsley realized that he hasn’t been forgotten by his sister Wednesday, and the Ancestors can finally go back to their graves.
All live “unhappily” ever after!

Now for an interview with one of the ancestors, Marley Gray:
What made you decide to join the musical and why?
“What made me decide to join the musical was that I really wanted to try out acting and playing a character out on an open stage in front of a live audience. I always wanted to be a part of film and I used to want to be an actor, so joining was really about me seeing what it would be like to be an actor.”
What were you most looking forward to? Why?
“Putting on the costume and makeup as I always love to dress up for events like Halloween and Comicon. It’s always been so fun for me to dress up and play a character.”
What could the audience expect before the performance?
“Great music and performances all around from everyone involved as we have put a lot of effort into this show!”
Share a reflection after the performance.
“It was overall a really good experience as I got to meet a lot of really great people I would have never met otherwise, and the after-performance party we had on Saturday was very nice as a lot of our seniors had to say goodbye as it was their last performance before graduating.”
What would you like to say to everyone who has been involved in the musical?
“I would like to thank everyone who helped in any way as it wouldn’t be possible without you. I would also like to give an extra special thanks to the main actors such as Gomez (Elliott Ketron), Morticia (Georyne Agdeppa) and Wednesday (Zerena Furtak) for going above and beyond with their performance and really bringing their all to the show!
