The final band & orchestra concert, directed by Mr. Bores, was held in the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center (IPAC) on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, @ 6:30PM. This was the final concert for both band and orchestra, and it was also a special concert for the seniors because it was their final concert! The seniors have grown so much over the years from when they first started to their final concert!
For this special concert, Mr. Bores ordered individual posters from Talley High School for each senior and recognized them for the work they have put in for band or orchestra over the years. Seniors who spent all three trimesters of all four years in band or orchestra received a trophy with their name and the instrument they played engraved on it!
Each music class (Jazz, Concert, Symphonic Band & Orchestra) had students select music pieces that they want to perform and the students voted as a class. Originally in past concerts, there was only jazz, symphonic band, and orchestra performing, but this time there is one special group that both students from band and orchestra came together after school to work on. They created a group called Redhawk Percussion Ensemble.

The Redhawk Percussion Ensemble, created by a group of students from different grade levels from band and orchestra, came together after school every Friday. For this group, they performed one piece of music called “Ceremonium,” by Jared Spears.
Members of Redhawk Percussion Ensemble:
Nicholas Nagasaki – Glockenspiel
Skyler Sagun – Xylophone

Emmilynn Corniel – Suspended Cymbal

After the Redhawk Percussion Ensemble performed, they removed their things so the Redhawk Jazz Band could get ready to be on stage.
During the Intermission, Mr. Bores had a guest speaker, Mrs. Wendorf, come on stage and talk about their Music Booster Program, where parents of music students can get involved to help fundraise for trips, awards, and other resources for music to continue to grow!

Next up we had the Redhawk Jazz Band. It’s a yearlong class that both band and orchestra students can join, but in order to join, you first need to audition to show that you are up to level! Jazz Band is focused on modern forms of music (swing, funk, rock, samba, etc.). Jazz Band starts at 6:30AM, it’s a zero-period class that meets Monday – Friday before school starts. They are really passionate about music to show up before school starts and practice so they can perform for us! The Redhawk Jazz Band performed four pieces of music.

“Clarinets Are Packing Up Early,” by Gary Fagan

The last piece the Concert Band performed was called, “Clarinets Are Packing Up Early,” by Gary Fagan. For this piece, the clarinet’s section has to move their seats and come closer to the end of the left side of the stage and as the name said, “Clarinets Are Packing Up Early.” They were literally packing up early while they performed this piece, which was a silly performance and made the audiences laugh!

Mr. Bores also had three of his former students come up on stage to announce three special recognitions on the awards that will be hung up in the band and orchestra room for the next generations to see and honor them!
Arya Nguyen (Class of 2025)
Saül Keith (Class of 2025)
Niyekah Manning (Class of 2025)

What the former students didn’t know is that each one of their names was engraved on each award as well as the current seniors! They were shocked and honored to hear from Mr. Bores that their names will be engraved on the awards too!
The John Philip Sousa Band Award:
Arya Nguyen (Class of 2025)
