Meet Robert, a football player from Renton High School. Robert is important to interview because of his experience that he has from the football team. He told me about the atmosphere on the team, his position, how football changed his life, and his dream to play in the NFL.
Robert plays corner, and his main goal is to block, try to get the ball, and help his teammates on and off the field. He chose this position because he has wanted to play it since he started football, and he knows the importance of this position. It is exactly there that he can show his best performance, put in what he can on that field, and help his teammates.
This is his first season playing high school football. He expresses how football changed his life all around. He was a “snotty nose kid” as he called himself, he then put his heart and soul into football. Over the season, it has taught him in life to do his best on the field and off the field as well. He gained a family during this season, and they went through a lot for each other. His team makes it fun and hard at the same time. It’s called “tough love,” he says. They all have love for one another, that’s what Robert likes and that makes a special place in his heart for his team. I asked, “How has your adaptation in the team going so far and how have your teammates helped you to feel comfortable in the team?” Robert replied, “my teammates help me to get me where I am today; I owe them a big thank you. They’ve been through everything with me, and everyone on the team loves each other. We help one another for the team. I am always one phone call or text away for them. I feel comfortable with this team because it feels like home; they are my family, my friends, and my brothers.”
I also asked, “what part of being a football player is the most difficult and challenging for you and why?” Robert says, “you get hurt, and you’ll get sore; that’s one thing. But the thing for me is practice. It’s harder than the game. We push each other each time we step on that field. We put the work on the field, and we push through things together no matter what. Practice is the hardest because we know what we need to work on, so we push ourselves to get better.”
Robert wears number 36. This is a special number for him, and he wears this number proudly. His dream is to play in the NFL, and he is going to college for football and to study welding. For him it doesn’t matter what team it is, he will put his heart and soul into this sport, just like he is doing right now.

Robert’s favorite quotes are, “The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning,” and “You have to fight to reach your dream.” These quotes are also his advice for younger players who want to join the team.
