The Seattle Seahawks flew back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 11 years after defeating the Los Angeles Rams in a thrilling NFC championship game showdown. They sealed the victory in front of a roaring crowd and set themselves up for a rematch against the New England Patriots, which the Seahawks famously threw a losing game interception at the goal line. Seattle’s offense delivered in key moments, 2-year head coach, Mike Macdonald, said “We have great players…when the ball finds them, they’re gonna make great plays for us.” They built and protected a late lead while not folding under pressure against the Rams team that refused to back down. The win marked a huge moment for the Seahawks franchise and their first Super Bowl appearance since 2015.
The Rams tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, but Seattle’s defense came up with a decisive stop in the final minutes with the final score being 31-27 to secure the NFC championship. As confetti fell and the Seahawks celebrated on the field, the victory showed resilience, toughness, and execution on both sides of the ball. “I still don’t really have words for it,” says Super Bowl 56 MVP Copper Kupp when asked how it feels to beat his old team within a year to make it back to the Super Bowl. With the NFC crown secured, Seattle turned its focus to the Super Bowl, one win away from capturing another Lombardi Trophy.
Some key players from Seattle’s electric offense were Sam Darnold, who arguably played the best game of his life, throwing 25/36, 346 yards, and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. Next was K9 (Kenneth Walker) who got 19 touches, 62 yards, and 1 touchdown, breaking off for some good runs to get Seattle’s offense going early. For receiving we have Rashid Shaheed who had only 1 catch going for 51 though, setting up Seattle in the red zone early. Next is the player whose impact was felt the most besides Sam Darnold, was Jaxon Smith Njigba, who had 10 catches, one of those being a 1 handed catch, putting the crowd on their feet and built momentum, 153 yards and 1 touchdown.
On February 8th, 2026, with a 29-13 win over the Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions again for the second time in franchise history! The overall speed of the game was slow, with the half time score being 9-0 Seattle. No touchdowns were scored, only field goals from Seahawks kicker Jason Myers. Another field goal was kicked in the 3rd, which took the score to 12-0 and no touchdowns were scored until the 4th where Sam Darnold threw a touchdown pass to A.J. Barner. The patriots weren’t going down without a fight getting two late 4th quarter touchdowns. Yet with some defensive stops leading to a fumble recovered for a touchdown, those touchdowns were too late, and Seattle flew away with the victory.
The MVP was named after Kenneth Walker as he had 27 rushes for 135 and 30 passing yards giving him 165 all-purpose yards on the night proving he is a top running back in this league. This Seattle team was fun to watch, and fans are excited to see what they do next season to repeat the same success.
