The Renton Redhawks boys’ basketball capped off an impressive postseason run in the 2026 WIAA Class 2A Boys Basketball State Tournament, battling through a tough bracket and proving they belonged among the state’s top teams. Renton opened its state campaign with a strong 46–36 victory over Lynden Lions to advance to the quarterfinals. The Redhawks later fell 55–45 to R.A. Long Lumberjacks before playing a tightly contested game against Tumwater Thunderbirds, ultimately coming up short in a 50–48 loss that ended their tournament run. Despite the result, the Redhawks’ deep push highlighted a resilient season and marked one of the program’s strongest state appearances in recent years.
A big reason for Renton’s success was the leadership of junior guard Sudan Luok, who led the team in multiple ways through the season, averaging 14 points and eight rebounds per game while also contributing assists and steals on both ends of the floor. Jalen Taylor also played a key role, providing efficient scoring and strong wing play while shooting at a high percentage from the field. The Redhawks combined tough defense with balanced scoring to capture the 2A KingCo title earlier in the season and carry that momentum into the state tournament. The run showcased the team’s depth, determination, and emerging young talent, setting the stage for another competitive season ahead.
