Valentine’s Day is coming up and that means it’s date time! There are a lot of different things to do for Valentines day ranging from painting pottery to dinner. Regardless, the key to having a great night is preparing ahead.

When it comes to going to a restaurant, it is good to make reservations beforehand. It can be hard to get a nice spot at a good restaurant without having to wait a couple hours. Calling ahead is a great idea to make sure the night isn’t spent in a crowded room of random people. One good place to go that won’t have too many people is That’s Amore in Mount Baker area which serves Italian food and decadent desserts. Their menu is accessible on their website at thatsamoreseattle.com and they offer a beautiful view of the city.

Another place to go is Japonessa which serves all kinds of sushi and poke. You can go to seattle.japonessa.com/eat/ for a full menu and to make a reservation online. It is open until 11pm monday-thursday, perfect for a late night, and is located in downtown Seattle near pike place.

A fancy, but usually not excessively crowded place is BluWater bistro in Leschi. It is located right on the water, looking out at the peaceful Lake Washington. They serve a variety of different seafoods as well as salads, soups, pasta, pizza, steak, ribs, burgers, and meatloaf.

Finally one other good place to try out is Din Tai Fung; they serve dumplings, noodle soups, fried rice, salad, buns, and desserts.

Not everybody wants to go out to dinner for Valentine’s day. There are a lot of other fun alternatives! Pottery painting in the Landing at Glazed Art is a great way to get creative and try something new. Just show up, pick out a ceramic piece, choose some paints, and get started! It is open until 7pm on Wednesday and they even have a Valentine’s day special, with 20% off if showing up with two or more people. So even without a date, this is also a great thing to do with some friends.

If driving isn’t a limiting factor, the Seattle Great Wheel is a fun option. It costs $14 dollars per ticket and is open until 10pm on weekdays. Each ride lasts ten to fifteen minutes and exhibits a wonderful view of the Puget Sound.

There are many options when it comes to finding things to do on Valentine’s Day. Whether single or in a relationship there are many ways to have fun. Remember that if going out doesn’t sound fun, there is no shame in staying home and watching a good movie. It’s Valentine’s Day, just relax and give out love.
